COVID-19 advice

When you arrive for your appointment at a UQ VETS hospital please note;

• wherever possible, we will work with you to complete necessary paperwork, preferably electronically, before you arrive
• we may take the patient's history over the phone to allow for physical distancing
• avoid bringing additional people with you to the consultation
• leads, collars, halters and other animal accessories will not be admitted with your animal.

• When you arrive for an appointment, we will escort you to a cleaned and available consult room.
• Face-to-face times in consult rooms will be limited, where possible. Over-the-phone or outside options will be available for extended conversations.  
• You can visit hospitalised animals at UQ VETS Small Animal Hospital wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as required.
• Only approved visitors can visit hospitalised horses at UQ VETS Equine Specialist Hospital wearing PPE, as required.
• We will ask you to sanitise your hands at various times. Hand sanitiser is available.
• You must adhere to physical distancing rules, keeping 1.5 metres between you and other people whenever possible.
• We ask you to avoid unnecessary touching and adhere to a 'no handshake policy.'

• We may discharge the patient over the phone to allow for physical distancing.
• We encourage contactless payment wherever possible.

• In an emergency, phone us on 07 5460 1799 so that we can discuss your horse’s condition over the phone and determine the best plan of action with yourself and your referring vet.
• During the COVID-19 pandemic, we ask horse owners/trainers not to visit UQ VETS Equine Specialist Hospital without prior discussion and approvals. Contact us to discuss your horse's case.
