Our UQ VETS Small Animal Hospital emergency service is open 7 days, for urgent and emergency cases from 7am to 10pm. Where possible call ahead so our team can best direct your emergency.
Emergency situations
If you or your vet feel your pet is having an emergency call us immediately on 07 5460 1788 so we can be ready for you.
The UQ VETS Small Animal Hospital is locked from 6pm onwards for security reasons. If you arrive outside our office hours, press the left-hand front-door buzzer to let us know you’ve arrived. Our hosptial closes at 10pm.We're here when your pet needs us most
We’ll examine and admit your pet
On arrival, we’ll triage your pet to assess their condition - we see critical patients first.
- We’ll see you immediately if your pet is critically ill.
- If your pet is stable, one of our vets will attend to you as soon as triage allows.
- Emergency staff will examine your pet and recommend treatments and diagnostics.
- If your pet needs to be admitted to our intensive care unit, we will provide you with a cost estimate.
- We can also help you make a claim if you have pet insurance.
Emergency and critical care
Our highly trained vets and nurses offer urgent and emergency care between 7am and 10pm, 7 days a week.
Weekday primary care appointments are available Monday to Friday for routine care.
Although we are not open for after-hour emergencies after 10pm, a small team will remain on site 24 hours dedicated to providing ongoing care for currently hospitalised patients.
Our team use the latest advancements in diagnostics and treatments. They work closely with colleagues from other specialist services within the UQ VETS Small Animal Hospital to ensure your pet receives the very best care.
