Our UQ VETS Production Animal Service vets work with owners, referring general practice vets and specialists to diagnose and treat production animal diseases.

We care for production herds, including commercial dairy and beef cattle, sheep (meat and dairy) and goat herds, and offer a limited service for piggeries. We also care for production animals kept as companions on hobby farms.

We travel within a 70-kilometre radius of UQ’s Gatton campus to assess internal medicine and surgical cases relating to individual animals and whole-herd application.

We have extensive GP surgical experience and offer on-farm rectal bovine and ovine ultrasound.

We collaborate with diagnostic-imaging specialists at the UQ Veterinary Medical Centre to offer abdominal ultrasound, X-ray, CT and gastroscopy services.

Supporting UQ students

When providing onsite care, our vets regularly bring small groups of final-year UQ veterinary students with them to provide additional care and attention.
